- Acne Facial or Therapy1h 15m: $80.00What are facials for acne? A facial is a group of procedures, performed by an aesthetician, to remove dead skin cells and unclog the pores on your face. Facials are available at most spas, but the methods for performing each procedure can vary. When getting facials for acne, the esthetician will perform each of the following procedures: Cleansing and skin analysis: The aesthetician wipes away any excess oil and dirt with a cotton pad or sponge. He/she then looks at your skin with a magnifying glass to analyze your acne, sun damage, dehydration, and/or other conditions. Exfoliation: By definition, an exfoliant removes the top layer of your skin, which primarily consists of dead skin cells. Exfoliation is either a mechanical or chemical process: Mechanical exfoliants are scrubs or other course products that rub away dead skin. Chemical exfoliants are acids and enzymes that slough off dead skin. Extractions: An extraction is the physical unclogging of a clogged pore. The aesthetician pushes a tool called an extractor around each acne lesion, forcing the pus, bacteria, and sometimes blood up through the clogged follicle opening. It is an aggressive procedure that should only be performed by an experienced aesthetician or dermatologist as it can damage your pores if done incorrectly. How do Facials Help Acne? Facials can be an effective way to get rid of non-inflammatory or comedonal acne (whiteheads and blackheads). Comedones occur when pores get clogged with oil and dead skin cells. Facial exfoliation takes off the top layer of skin, which unclogs pores and helps oil flow naturally through the follicles, thus avoiding future breakouts. Extractions remove the existing comedones, which both helps your appearance and also lessens the likelihood developing a pimple (which occurs when a comedone becomes inflamed).
- Back Facial1h: $65.00Back facials can be beneficial in cleansing those tough-to-reach spots, targeting a variety of skin care needs such as clogged pores, back acne, and dehydrated skin. This treatment mimics many of the traditional techniques used while performing treatments for the face, and incorporate deep cleansing, extractions, and purifying masks. Back facials are particularly fitting treatments during bathing suit season or for people who wear low-back attire. Why get a back facial? Back facials are, for the most part, a painless extraction process. The facial typically begins with a gentle steaming to open pores and lift impurities, followed by a deep cleansing and exfoliation. The facial for back concludes with a therapeutic mask; some spas also offer a relaxing neck, back, and shoulder massage. Good to know: Additional skin treatments usually reserved for the face such as glycolic peels and dermabrasion are now available for facials for the back.
- Chemical Peel1h: $90.00A chemical peel is a technique used to improve the appearance of the skin on the face, neck or hands. A chemical solution is applied to the skin that causes it to exfoliate and eventually peel off. The new, regenerated skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin. The new skin is also temporarily more sensitive to the sun. There are three basic types of chemical peels: Superficial or lunchtime peel: Alpha-hydroxy acid or another mild acid is used to penetrate only the outer layer of skin to gently exfoliate it. The treatment is used to improve the appearance of mild skin discoloration and rough skin as well as to refresh the face, neck, chest or hands. Medium peel: Glycolic or trichloroacetic acid is applied to penetrate the out and middle layers of skin to remove damaged skin cells. The treatment is used to improve age spots, fine lines and wrinkles, freckles and moderate skin discoloration. It also can be used to smooth rough skin and treat some precancerous skin growths, i.e. actinic keratosis. Deep peel: Tricholoracetic acid or phenol is applied to deeply penetrate the middle layer of skin to remove damaged skin cells. The treatment removes moderate lines, age spots, freckles and shallow scars. Patients will see a dramatic improvement in skin appearance. The procedure is used on the face and only can be performed once. Chemical peels are used to treat a number of conditions including: Acne scars Aging skin Crow's feet Scars Sun damaged skin Sagging skin Wrinkles Generally light-haired and fair skinned people are the best candidates for chemical peel. The procedure does not work as well on dark-skinned patients. The procedure is not recommended for individuals with infections, active skin disease, cut or broken skin, sunburns or active Herpes simplex 1 sores. Other counter-indications include patients who are: Nursing or pregnant. Have taken Accutane in last six months. Have psoriasis, eczema, dermatitis or rosacea. Have used Retin-A, Renova, prescription skin care products, products that contain ascorbic acid, bleaching or skin-lightening agents or other acid-based products in the last 48 hours. Chemicals peels sting but do not cause a great deal of pain. The gentlest peels use alpha-hydroxy, glycolic, lactic or fruit acids are also gentle. They may cause stinging, redness, irritation and crusting but as the skin begins to adjust all these problems will lessen. Trichloroacetic acids are used for stronger peelings. They remove wrinkles, superficial blemishes and pigment problems. Phenol is the strongest of all treatments and removes deep lines and wrinkles on the face. These type of treatments sting more than those with the gentler acids. After the treatment there may be redness, swelling and irritation but the use of creams and gels will reduce these effects. Also the doctor may prescribe medicines that will help relieve the problems after the peel. What are the complications or potential side effects of a chemical peel? Temporary or permanent change in skin color, particularly for women on birth control pills, who subsequently become pregnant or have a history of brownish facial discoloration. Scarring Reactivation of cold sores All peels require some follow-up care: Superficial peels require one to seven days to heal. Treated skin will initially be red and may scale. Lotion or cream should be applied until the skin heals, followed by daily use of sunscreen. Makeup can usually be worn the next day.

- Cellulite Treatment30m: $40.00How Cupping Therapy Works When suction is applied on the skin, the reverse pressure causes the cellulite to break up. Blood circulation is stimulated, and the fat and toxins that are released are moved to the lymph drainage network. Since cupping therapy also promotes a more efficient drainage of the lymph nodes, these toxins are quickly eliminated from the body. Cupping is also known to ease the cords connecting the skin and muscle. In this way, fluid build-up is reduced and the skin develops a more cellulite-free healthy appearance.

Deep tissue massage therapy is similar to Swedish massage, but the deeper pressure is beneficial in releasing chronic muscle tension. A study in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine found that people's blood pressure fell after a single 45 to 60 minute deep tissue massage. Additionally, a 2010 meta-analysis in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry found that massage modalities like deep tissue reduce stress hormone levels and heart rate while boosting mood and relaxation by triggering the release of oxytocin and serotonin. - Maternity Massage1h: $70.00Benefits of Prenatal Massage Massage therapy during pregnancy is a wonderful complementary choice for prenatal care. It is a healthy way to reduce stress and promote overall wellness. Massage relieves many of the normal discomforts experienced during pregnancy, such as backaches, stiff neck, leg cramps, headaches and edema (or swelling). In addition, massage for pregnant women reduces stress on weight-bearing joints, encourages blood and lymph circulation, helps to relax nervous tension -- which aids in better sleep -- and can help relieve depression or anxiety caused by hormonal changes. During The Prenatal Massage At Bella Rose, our therapists take extra care to ensure our pregnancy massage clients are comfortable. Sideline positioning with supportive, soft cushions is used to alleviate the extra strain on the lower back and pelvic areas when the pressure of massage techniques are applied. Extra strain in these areas can cause unnecessary back or abdominal pain, so naturally we want to avoid any potential discomfort. Through the second trimester, you may prefer to lie on your back with a small, cushioned wedge placed under one hip to provide a slight elevation. Depending on where you are in your pregnancy, your therapist may utilize such massage techniques as reflexology, Swedish massage or certain techniques that address your specific requests and needs. Relief of Everyday Symptoms Massage for pregnant women offers a number of benefits, and it's always a good idea to discuss with your therapist any everyday symptoms you'd like to see relieved. Those might include: Headaches can be relieved by massage focusing on the head, neck and shoulders. In addition, maintaining optimal levels of stress relief through massage reduces the chances of migraines or tension headaches by relaxing trigger points and muscle spasms. Muscle tension created by carrying the extra weight of a baby can be relieved by encouraging blood flow to the afflicted areas. This provides more nutrient-rich oxygen and also increases the flow of lymphatic fluid, which sweeps away toxins and metabolic waste. Fatigue, backaches, leg cramps and swelling/edema can all be relieved through various types of massage for pregnant women. The ordinary aches and pains of pregnancy are countered by the release of serotonin, your body's natural anti-pain chemical, which is stimulated by massage. While a massage can't promise that your newborn will sleep through the night, it can provide you with a better night's sleep both during pregnancy and afterwards. Regular massage therapy not only helps diminish anxiety and discomfort but boosts relaxation as well. This ultimately can lead to improved sleep patterns. In addition, the serotonin, endorphins and dopamine released by your body in response to massage provide an extra helping of those natural chemicals. "Massage is very effective at increasing deep sleep," says Touch Research Institute director Dr. Tiffany Field. Staying Healthy Women with normal, low-risk pregnancies can benefit greatly from the variety of massage techniques offered by a professional massage therapist. However, women in high-risk pregnancies should consult their doctor or midwife before beginning one of our massage therapy programs. If you experience discomfort at any time during the pregnancy massage, tell your therapist immediately.
- Myofascial Release Massage1h: $85.00What is Trigger Point Therapy? Benefits of Trigger Point Therapy at Bella Rose A trigger point is a tight area within muscle tissue that causes pain in other parts of the body. A trigger point in the back, for example, may produce referral pain in the neck. The neck, now acting as a satellite trigger point, may then cause pain in the head. The pain may be sharp and intense or a dull ache. Trigger point massage therapy is specifically designed to alleviate the source of the pain through cycles of isolated pressure and release. In this type of massage for trigger point therapy, the recipient actively participates through deep breathing as well as identifying the exact location and intensity of the discomfort. The results and benefits of trigger point massage are releasing constricted areas in the muscles thus alleviating pain. You can experience a significant decrease in pain after just one treatment. Receiving massage with trigger point therapy on a regular basis can help naturally manage pain and stress from chronic injuries.

- Swedish Massage 25 Minutes30m: $40.00What is Swedish Massage Therapy? Swedish massage therapy is the modality that comes to mind when most people think about massage. As the best-known type of bodywork performed today, one of the primary goals of the Swedish massage technique is to relax the entire body. This is accomplished by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. But Swedish massage therapy goes beyond relaxation. Swedish massage is exceptionally beneficial for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, improving circulation and flexibility while easing tension. A study conducted by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, and published in The New York Times, found that volunteers who received a 45-minute Swedish massage experienced significant decreases in levels of the stress hormone cortisol, as well as arginine vasopressin-a hormone that can lead to increases in cortisol. Volunteers also had increases in the number of lymphocytes, white blood cells that are part of the immune system, and a boost in the immune cells that may help fight colds and the flu. Swedish Massage Techniques Additional Swedish massage techniques include circular pressure applied by the hands and palms, firm kneading, percussion-like tapping, bending and stretching. Before and during your Swedish massage session, communication is encouraged with your professional massage therapist so that your massage is customized to your specific needs.

- Bikini30m: $35.00Everyone feels a bit self-conscious, especially the first few times. But remember, beauty therapists have seen it ALL before and perform bikini waxes every day. Worrying about whether you're too hairy / not hairy enough / have rubbish knickers on is all very normal but very unnecessary. There are several categories of bikini wax based on how much hair is removed and priced accordingly. The classic shape is the 'Bikini' and involves a simple tidy up of hair at the front and a bit down below, so that it doesn't extend beyond your knicker line - just enough to get you bikini-ready (this is the ideal wax for first-timers). The 'Brazilian' involves a lot more hair removal - typically leaving just a 'landing strip' of hair at the front and all hair removed down below and even round the back! The 'Hollywood' is total hair removal, front to back. Many salons offer a 'High Bikini' or 'G String' wax which is a little more thorough than your classic 'Bikini' shape and includes hair removed from the top to take your strip down in length. Your therapist will ask you to lie down on a salon bed/couch and remove your clothes below the waist. You Do Not Have to Take your Pants off If You Don't Want To (and most people don't)! They are very adept at working around your knickers to protect your modesty (Cosmo tip: wear comfy pants, not your best lacy undies that can be a little, er, scratchy). If you want a thorough wax like a Brazilian or Hollywood the therapist may find it easier if you remove your pants or offer you some disposable pants instead. Some salons which offer a form of hot wax without strips may also prefer you not wear anything. But your dignity comes first so if you feel uncomfortable at any point, just speak up - or leave! The therapist normally asks you place one leg bent up at the knee and the other bent flat on the bed at a right angle, exposing one side of your bikini line. She will then tuck a tissue into the edge of your pants to protect them from the wax. Wearing gloves, the therapist applies melted hot wax onto a small section of your hair using a spatula - it's warm, not too hot. Then a strip of cloth or muslin is applied on top of the wax, she presses down for a few seconds, holds the skin taut and pulls the strip away in one sharp tug. She continues repeating this process, both sides, until you're all done. OK, the therapist WILL be very close to your butt and MAY have to touch your labia and adjust you here and there to get the skin taut. Weird but necessary. Just how painful is it? Everyone has different pain thresholds but we won't kid you that it's painless (as many salons claim). Normally it results in a sharp intake of breath but it definitely gets easier the more you have it done. In some areas you'll hardly flinch; other spots result in a bit of involuntary swearing (top of the landing strip always seems a bit ouchy) - but either way it's over in about TWO SECONDS. In our experience, the best therapists work in small sections and press down on the skin immediately after pulling off the wax strip to dull the pain - so ask your therapist to work this way. Popping an ibuprofen an hour beforehand also helps. The therapist finishes by checking her handiwork and removing any remaining stray hairs with tweezers. Annoying but important. Finally, a soothing cream is applied all over. This bit feels really nice. She'll leave the room to let you get dressed. A bit of redness is normal afterwards for a few hours. BRAVO! You are now gorgeously hair-free and low-maintenance for about 3-4 weeks before you're ready for your next session.
- Brazilian45m: $75.001. Let it grow. The ideal waxing length for hair? A quarter-inch, which meant I couldn't shave for three weeks. 2. Down a glass of vino. My "waxpert," Nadia Montuori of European Wax Center, said a few pre-wax sips can help you relax - key to a faster treatment. 3. Wear a skirt. I kept mine on, pulling it up so Nadia could do her thing. I felt way comfier having some coverage. The Wax 1. Practice your butterfly pose. After I ditched my undies, I hopped on the table, and Nadia asked me to assume the position: feet together, knees apart. Then we got started. 2. Prepare talking points. Mindless chatter and deep breathing gave me something else to concentrate on. 3. Know it'll hurt. For me, it was as painful as my tattoo! But Nadia said it's a wax-virgin thing. "The bulb of a first-timer's hair is larger than the pore you're yanking it from." Regular waxes make the hair finer and the bulb smaller. 4. And ... there's more yoga. To go totally bare - crack included! - I had to give Nadia full access by bringing my knees to my chest. Yes, it was as awkward as it sounds. But amazingly, I barely felt a thing there. The Aftermath 1. Spring for soothing serum. The area was red, sore, and a little bumpy. But before bed, I applied Nadia's recommendation - the magical European Wax Center Ingrown Hair Serum, $25 - and when I woke up the next morning, it was perfect and way smoother than when I shave. I'll definitely be seeing Nadia again in four weeks. Brazilian Etiquette 1. Keep it clean. Pack towelettes (try La Fresh's, $1.69) for a quick cleanup. You'll feel more confident. 2. Tip up. If you're a 15 percent kind of girl, opt for the standard 18 to 20 percent. We're talking lady parts here. 3. Wear a tampon. If you have your period, that is. Most techs don't mind waxing at that time of the month (clear it with them first) and can work around the string. (Warning: It may hurt more since your skin is sensitive during your period.) 4. Do a skin check. A wax can be performed only on healthy skin. If you have a condition like psoriasis or an STD that causes sores, postpone your appointment until your issues have cleared. DIY Waxing 1. Take it off. Start at the least sensitive area, usually farthest from your vag, and work your way in. 2. Nix Strays. Pre-coated wax strips are purse-friendly — perfect for last minute de-fuzzing. 3. Chill out. Mist on a cooling spritz, spiked with skin-numbing Lidocaine, 10 minutes before waxing. Do Not Wax If 1. You take accutane. The prescription acne treatment leaves skin thinner - waxing may tear it. 2. You have a sunburn. For obvious reasons. 3. You're about to hit the beach. Along with hair, waxing takes off protective skin cells, causing sand and salt water to seriously sting.
