The Dane County Sheriff s Office is a full-service law enforcement agency that employs a staff of more than 550 full- and part-time sworn and nonsworn officers, civilians and community volunteers. It is the largest law enforcement organization in Dane County, Wis. The office maintains patrol, investigation, jail, prisoner conveyances and extradition, warrant and civil process, court bailiff and security, airport security, and lake and snowmobile patrol divisions. The Dane County Sheriff s Office also has several specialized units, such as explosive ordnance disposal, tactical response, special events, K-9, honor guard, and scuba and dive rescue. It supports the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program and operates a citizens police academy. The Dane County Sheriff s Office also provides online crime statistics, maps and crime reporting applications.
