El Concilio, headquartered in Stockton, Calif., is a social service and welfare organization that serves the Latino community in the San Joaquin Valley. It has been operational for more than 35 years and provides food resources and support services to improve the condition of low-income group people of Latino and other communities in the Central Valley of California. Additionally, it provides a wide range of programs, including the CalWORKs Case Management Program that provides support services to labor class and job training and placement services. Additionally, El Concilio operates child development centers to serve low- and moderate-income families in San Joaquin County, Calif., by providing educational programs for children up to the age of 5 years. The organization also provides English language development courses and assistance to individuals and families on various matters, such as social security, emergency protection, unlawful detention, housing and legal formalities. El Concilio additionally provides individual and group counseling sessions and referrals services for individuals suffering from alcohol addictions and substance abuse.
