- Chiropractic AdjustmentsWhen, through physical examination and x-ray analysis, we find that a person has spinal dysfunction (loss of normal movement) and/or misalignments, the primary and treatment that we employ is known as a “chiropractic adjustment”. An “adjustment” is the maneuver that we perform in order to restore normal movement and alignment to the spine and other joints so that pain, inflammation, muscle spasm and nerve irritation are alleviated. Chiropractic adjustments have localized effects, as previously noted, but also have more generalized effects. When a person has a misalignment, that misalignment creates negative messaging into the brain on an ongoing basis. This phenomenon is known as “nociception”. At the same time, spinal misalignments prevent the normal flow of positive messaging into the brain. The primary form of such positive messaging is about body position in space. This is known as “proprioception”. The combined influence of decreased positive messaging and increased negative messaging raises the stress response (fight/flight response) in the brain. Activation of this stress response on an ongoing basis impacts everything from blood pressure to sleep, immunity, body composition, healing, depression/anxiety, and a host of other factors. My reason for telling you about this rather complex topic is for you to recognize that chiropractic care has effects far beyond what you might have heard before.
- Spinal AdjustmentsFrom there, our doctor will proceed to discover the true source of your headaches, which may call for a spinal examination to uncover any misalignments that may be present. Once this examination has been performed, it should provide a solid foundation for a program of treatment that can lead to the long-term improvement of your headaches and migraines. It may take just a few simple spinal adjustments to bring you lasting relief and to correct the underlying cause and provide a lasting solution to your headaches.

- Chiropractic Injury Treatment
- Disc Herniation TreatmentAlthough whiplash describes the whip like action of your head and neck jerking forward and backward suddenly, there is a lot more that can happen internally when you’re subjected to such an impact. You can have disc herniation or bulges, spinal bones can be fractured, nerves in the neck and spine can become irritated or damaged, there can be misalignment of spinal vertebrae and you can have pulled muscles or even torn ligaments in the neck or other parts of the spine. Very few of these conditions will heal properly of their own accord. In fact, only 50% of all people injured in motor vehicle collisions ever fully recover. Half of these people have problems severe enough to cause permanent impairment or disability. Injuries, such as those caused by whiplash, are best treated by a chiropractor trained and experienced in the management of traumatic injuries.
