What a privilege it is to make healing quilts and pillows for the wonderful families I meet. All have endured the loss of someone they loved so deeply. My heart breaks each time I hear their stories, yet I am uplifted by their courage to give voice and expression to their experiences. Over subtle passages of time, each family carefully selects pieces of well-worn clothing, fabrics and mementos from their loved one's life. They bring them to me in bags and boxes and we sit together sharing tears and laughter and reminisce. From this sacred place, the stirring inspiration for my designs begin. I truly feel honored each time I am invited to create a story quilt that will become someone's keepsake for generations. I know without a doubt this is my mission on earth to use my love and God given talent to help families heal.
