We just returned from yet another wonderful evening at Grande Mere. We invited friends to join us, who had never been there. We all had wonderful service, delicious food and felt right at home. The pricing is a little higher then the middle of the road, but the quality of the food and service make it well worth it. 5 stars from us.

Grande Mere has been my favorite for years. The restaurant is casual and friendly, and owners Pete and Nancy Racine are the very present host and hostess of what feels like a happy party at their home. Your meal begins with a tray of delectable breads, herb butter and pate the minute you sit down. Don't eat too much--leave room for fresh seafood, barbecue ribs, lake perch, steaks or (my favorite) blackened chicken with hollandaise sauce. Great value--almost too much food but the Chocolate Mousse or fresh Berries with creamy Racine Sauce are worth overstuffing yourself for. Locals love it; vacationers somehow find out about it, even though Grande Mere doesn't need to advertise to get busy a lot. Be sure to make a reservation and tell Matt I said hi.
