  Dr. Alston Whiten graduated from the University of Montevallo with a bachelor’s degree in Biology, then earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2018. He has a special interest in ophthalmology and enjoys challenging cases. Dr. Whiten in an active member of First Baptist Pelham, where he enjoys volunteering with the student ministry.

  Many of our surgical procedures are performed with a CO2 laser that replaces a traditional scalpel.   State of the art technology and training allows our doctors to perform advanced procedures and diagnostics. Subspecialty surgeries including orthopedic surgeries like fractures, CCL/ACL knee injuries, and patella luxation are commonly performed. We also offer oronasal surgery, anorectal surgery, cystostomy, and other advanced soft tissue procedures. Minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery is a terrific option to shorten recovery times and provide the best experience possible for our patients. With laparoscopic technique, spay recovery time is cut in half and it becomes an outpatient procedure. Gastropexy to prevent bloat (GDV) and biopsy/exploratory surgery can be performed with rigid Flexible endoscopy is also available to help avoid surgery by removing objects that should not have been swallowed or to perform diagnostic procedures.

  Cutting Edge CO2 Surgical Laser is a better alternative to traditional scalpel surgery. Benefits include less pain, less bleeding, less swelling, and reduce risk of infection. This option is available for all procedures but required for certain procedures. The fee for laser surgery is $95.00

We are proud to offer a full IDEXX on-site lab for rapid in-house results including blood testing and analysis. Our digital radiography (X Ray) is the highest quality available and gives us outstanding images in seconds. Human quality ultrasound gives us a better look inside when necessary. A doctor will review results and images with you right in the exam room.

We provide oral health assessment, dental assessment, treatment, and prevention procedures that will restore fresh breath and smiles while reducing the risk of painful tooth loss and associated medical issues. Intraoral radiography (dental x rays) allow us to evaluate oral health below the gumline and is included with every procedure at NO additional cost!
