My goal is to create a safe and trusting environment that helps my clients feel readily comfortable and understood. I am particularly adept at working with cross-cultural, career and midlife issues due to my own varied professional background. I am a returned peace corps volunteer, have been a University professor in International Affairs, a government social scientist and manager and a management consultant. These experiences allow me to understand not only a person¿s inner world, but the stressors in work environments that create difficulty in people's lives. I have extensive advanced psychotherapy training. I provide both short and long term individual psychotherapy and specialize in helping couples in crisis through marital therapy. I am a trained EMDR practitioner specializing in trauma reduction. I also specialize in solution-focused and psychodynamic therapy. I am a core faculty member of the Clinical Social Work Institute in Washington, D.C. where I teach doctoral level clinical social work students. I am a past president of the Greater Washington Society for Clinical Social Workers and am currently secretary of a returned Peace Corps volunteer group.
