- Pediatric CareDuring his last year of graduate school, Dr. Williams received clinical training at Henry Ford OptimEyes, Normandy Optical, the Wyoming Michigan Veterans Affairs Hospital, and the Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Grand Rapids, MI. His last year of schooling provided valuable experiences with primary care, pediatrics, ocular disease, and low vision. In 2020, he graduated with honors from the Michigan College of Optometry.
- Primary CareJohn David Chrustowski, O.D., is from Warren, MI and a 2011 graduate of De La Salle Collegiate High School. He went on to study biology at Ferris State University. Prior to the completion of his bachelor’s degree, Dr. Chrustowski was accepted to the Michigan College of Optometry (MCO) through their early admittance program. While in optometry school, he completed the requirements to achieve a bachelor’s degree in Vision Science (2015). During his final year at MCO, Dr. Chrustowski was able to participate in three optometric rotations: he studied specialty contact lenses at Normandy Optical, primary care and pediatric optometry at Henry Ford OptimEyes, and ocular disease at the Battle Creek Veteran Affairs hospital.

- GlaucomaGlaucoma is a disease of the eye’s optic nerve and is diagnosed when changes to the optic nerve occur. Patients with glaucoma generally have elevated eye pressure. Ocular hypertension is a condition where the pressure in your eyes, or your intraocular pressure (IOP), is higher than normal. This continual high pressure in the eye can cause damage to the optic nerve and lead to glaucoma or vision loss.
- OphthalmologySince becoming an optometrist, Dr. Sesto practiced in a multi-specialty ophthalmology practice where he gained vast experience treating and managing ocular diseases such as diabetes, macular degeneration, glaucoma, cataracts, dry eye and keratoconus.
- Macular DegenerationMacular degeneration happens when the small central portion of your retina, called the macula, wears down. The retina is the light-sensing nerve tissue at the back of your eye. Macular degeneration usually doesn’t cause total blindness because it doesn’t affect your peripheral vision (what you see on the side when you’re looking straight ahead), but might cause severe vision problems.

- CataractsA cataract is a clouding of the lens in the eye and is a very common eye problem as you get older. The lens of the eye is located behind the pupil and contains water and proteins that help the eye focus, but those proteins can clump together inside the lens and cause vision problems. When a cataract forms, the lens becomes cloudy, often a yellowish-brown color. It blocks light from entering the eye and scatters light, causing blur, glare, and occasionally, double vision. Most patients won't notice a big difference in their eyesight in the early stages of cataract development. Corrective lenses may reverse any resulting vision problem for a time, but as the cataract progresses, corrective lenses may not help and surgery becomes the only treatment option.
- Cataract SurgeryCataract surgery is a quick and safe procedure that most patients recover from in a day. Visiting the Metro-Detroit cataract specialists at Normandy Optical for regular checkups can help with early diagnosis. We provide Michigan patients with co-management and post-operative care to help patients restore their vision and keep it sharp.

- Mental HealthRegular exposure throughout the day to blue light can hinder melatonin creation and lead to lack of necessary rest. This is by far one of the largest effects of blue light and can have an effect on your mental health, your clarity, and your decision making. A lack of effective sleep can cause anxiety, prolonged sadness, and bring on more health issues.
