Vincent Ruggiero, M.D., is a board certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic hand and upper extremities specialist. He serves as Director to the Hand Center at Healthcare Associates in Medicine, a division of the Orlin & Cohen Medical Specialists Group. He was recognized by Castle Connolly for his excellence in Orthopaedic Surgery and awarded Regional Top Doctor 2019-2021 and Top Doctor NY Metro Area 2019-2021. As a New York native, Dr. Ruggiero attended Pace University and graduated Summa Cum Laude in Biology. Dr. Ruggiero earned his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine while achieving two accolades, the Richmond County Medical Society Scholarship Award and the American Heart Association Medical Student Fellowship. He completed his Orthopaedic residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, a Level I Trauma Center, where he was named Administrative Chief Resident and received the Resident Teaching Award 1998. At SUNY Health Science Center, Dr. Ruggiero obtained sub-specialty training in Orthopaedic Hand Surgery in Syracuse, NY under the tutelage of Dr. Andrew K. Palmer. Additional fellowship training in Pediatric Orthopaedics was completed at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas, TX. As Director of the Hand Center at Healthcare Associates in Medicine, Dr. Ruggiero takes a special interest in returning his patients to a high functioning lifestyle using operative and non-operative solutions tailored to each injury. Dr. Ruggiero has served as Honorary Police Surgeon to the NYPD for over 10 years, as well as team physician for Wagner College Athletics and various high school athletic teams. Additionally, he has served as the clinical instructor of the SUNY Downstate Orthopedic Residency Program and as instructor of hand and wrist surgery at Staten Island University Hospital from 2010 to the present.
