Donny and Rebecca Walton, the owners of Expert Design & Screen Printing, are from central North Carolina and have called Montgomery County home for the last five years. They have three children, all of whom are homeschooled. Donny grew up working in his family's pottery studio and retail shop surrounded by many opportunities to express his artistic abilities. He graduated with a degree in computer engineering and worked for four years writing software for a company in Southern Pines. He returned to Seagrove to work with a budding company to bring them into the 21st century and to increase their customer base. He designed and maintained their online catalog and web site, as well as designed their printed catalog and promotional materials. Rebecca also grew up in a family business. She received her degree in horticulture in order to return to and manage her parent's herb farm and retail garden center. After her first child was born in 2003, she left the family business to work on her own and follow her love of working in marketing. She received a position with a local business to redesign their brochures and in-house training materials and documents. Since then, she has worked with many new business owners to develop advertisements, catalogs and promotional materials, and web sites. Donny had his first taste of screen printing with an amateur screen printing kit that he received as a gift while still in high school. The seed that was planted then sprouted and took root in 2002 when his parents attended a promotional materials trade show and returned with information on screen printing equipment. Donny and Rebecca purchased their first manual press that year and had their first job printing t-shirts shortly after. During the past eight years, the Waltons have enjoyed helping local and out-of-state businesses and non-profit companies with their screen printing, web site design, and print media needs. Going forward, it is the goal of Expert Design to continue to offer more and more in-house services to its customers.
