      General Info

      Founded in 1976, Springfield Ballet, a not-for-profit corporation, offers superior dance training, rooted in classical ballet, for ages 3-adult. All classes are held at the Creamery Arts Center, classes are offered in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz/ musical theatre, modern, Pilates mat and Creative Movement. Additionally, Springfield Ballet brings pre-professional productions to the Ozarks each year, enhanced by professional guest artists. Through outreach programming, thousands of children in the Ozarks are exposed to quality dance education each year.

      Springfield Ballet School was established in 1976 and exists today as a comprehensive training program for area dancers to build a strong foundation in classical dance. Our highly skilled, professional faculty offer classes in ballet, pointe, modern, jazz and stretch & strengthen. Classes are offered at all skill levels to individuals ages three through adult. Springfield Ballet classes are not recital or competition driven. Valuable classroom time is spent learning and strengthening dancers' technique rather than practicing routines. Students interested in performing may audition for Springfield Ballet productions held in the fall and spring each year.

      Springfield Ballet is located in The Creamery Arts Center across from Hammons Field and is a cornerstone of Jordan Valley Park.
      Amenities
      Beginning at age three, children may be enrolled in our Creative Movement dance classes. Creative Movement 1 (ages 3-4) is an educational and fun class which introduces your child to dance emphasizing musical awareness, spatial awareness, group interaction and listening skills. Creative Movement 2 (ages 4-5) is a more in depth exploration of the dance concepts with additional emphasis on posture and coordination. Pre-Ballet (ages 5-6) is a prelude to formal ballet training and focuses on very basic ballet movements that deal with gross and fine motor skills, creative expression and music appreciation. Classical ballet training begins with Ballet 1 (ages 6-9) and continues with Ballet 2, Ballet 3, Ballet 4, Ballet 5, Ballet 6 and Pointe 6 and Ballet 7 and Pointe 7. Elective classes are a great way to supplement your ballet raining. We offer Modern 1A (approximate ages 7 and up, in Ballet 2 and up); Modern 1B, Modern 2 and Modern 3 (all by placement); Jazz 1 (approximate ages 8 and up, in Ballet 3 and up); Musical Theatre Rep-Jazz 2 (by placement); and Stretch & Strengthen (approximate ages 8 and up, in Ballet 3, 4 & 5). Springfield Ballet also offers a Dance With me dance class for children ages 2-3 to take a Creative Movement class with an adult. This eight week session is generally offered on a weekday in the mornings. This classes focuses on teaching simple stretches and basic dance steps as well as the discipline of working together in a group.

      Springfield Ballet's pre-professional productions each season are performed at the historic Landers Theatre in downtown Springfield.
