The Missouri Highway and Transportation Department provides a wide range of services, including travel, engineering and community services. The department, located in Springfield, Mo., offers various travel-related programs, such as Gateway Guide, Motorist Assist, Commuter Lots, Kansas City Scout, and work zone and road conditions maps. The Gateway Guide program is designed to improve roadway efficiency and safety through a vast communication network. Additionally, the department provides various engineering services that include preliminary studies, value engineering, and research, development and technology services. It also conducts traffic and bridge engineering assistance programs. The Missouri Highway and Transportation Department also offers community programs, such as Request a Speaker, Adopt-A-Highway and Scenic Byways. Adopt-A-Highway program is designed to provide community support for litter prevention and highway beautification efforts.
