- Carpal Tunnel SyndromeNumbness, tingling, pain, weakness, and loss of muscle bulk may indicate a nerve impingement or a nerve irritation. While x-rays, CT scans, and MRI scans are useful in producing a picture that you doctor can use to infer the possibility of a nerve impingement or a nerve irritation. These tests do not actually demonstrate what is actually going on with the nerve itself. In addition, x-rays, CT scans, and MRI scans are often non-specific and may demonstrate multiple abnormal findings, each of which may be capable of being the source of numbness, tingling, pain, weakness, and loss of muscle bulk. EMG/NCS is a useful test that can be used to complement the information obtained in a history, the physical examination, and tests. Conditions commonly diagnosed with the use of EMG/NCS include carpal tunnel syndrome, cervical radiculopathy (nerve root impingement or irritation in the neck), and lumbar radiculopathy (nerve root impingement or irritation in the lower back).
- Multiple SclerosisPSSP provides specialized medical evaluation of patients with issues related to abnormal muscle tone from brain or spinal cord disorders such as stroke, traumatic brain injuries, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy and spinal cord injuries. Patients with spasticity may have pain as well. We aim to improve the physical function of patients through carefully planned intervention. Treatments range from oral medications and physical therapy to new sophisticated technologies such as Botox injections and Intrathecal Baclofen (ITB).

- UltrasoundSpinal injections are recommended for the treatment of chronic back or neck pain. They relieve pain by blocking the transmission of nerve signals between specific areas of the spine and the brain. The injections usually contain local anesthetics, steroids, or narcotics and are administered into the spinal joints, nerve roots or affected soft tissues. Complex nerve blocks may also be performed. Spinal injections are performed with x-ray or ultrasound guidance. Specific procedures offered at PSSP for spinal conditions are listed and described in more detail at Spine Conditions.
