  Instead of the goop traditionally used for making dental impressions, we apply advanced technology to take virtual images of highest accuracy and resolution. A laser wand allows us to scan your teeth and gums, with real-time images shown on a monitor that you can watch with us. The images are sent to a lab where a precise dental model is made for crowns, bridges, space maintainers, mouthguards, or for other uses and devices.

  Also known as “white fillings,” tooth-colored fillings are made of amalgam-free composite resin and matched to your own teeth in color and appearance. They restore decayed or fractured teeth and bond chemically to the tooth structure, restoring up to 95% of the tooth’s original strength.

Endodontics

• Root Canal Treatment
  For some reason (trauma, decay, etc.), the nerve in your tooth is dead or dying. As this occurs, it rots (necrosis). Bacteria are always present in the oral cavity, which provides for them an ideal environment (moist, warmth and food). They are fruitful and  multiply. This leads to an abscess, a localized pus pocket, which can become extremely painful. The remnants of the nerve and the bacteria must be removed. This is the first part of a root canal.

Periodontics

  The treatment usually depends on the severity of the problem. If the infection below the gumline is caught early, generally the problem can be controlled by scaling and root planing (a deep cleaning usually accomplished while you’re numb). If the disease has progressed, surgery may be required. This involves pushing the gums back, removing affected tooth structure, calculus, plaque, gum tissue and remodeling the bone. Sometimes skin and/or bone grafting are necessary. If gum disease is left untreated, it will progress, leading to loose teeth and tooth loss.

  Many infections can develop within the oral cavity, and, if untreated can spread, leading to swelling, bleeding, pain, bone loss and even hospitalization or death. Our oral health team has a lightning-quick response to the first signs of infection, whether stemming from tooth decay, abscessed teeth, viral and fungal infections, bone infections or others. Treatment may include prescribed antibiotics, root canal, surgical drainage or tooth extraction.

Orthodontics

  The TMJ problem could be treated in a number of different ways. An occlusal splint may be utilized. Orthodontics can reposition crooked teeth if they are the cause. Equilibration (selective reshaping) of involved teeth can sometimes help.  If the above methods are of little assistance, surgery may be indicated.

He has served as President of the Arkansas Academy of General Dentistry and has held various officer positions with Arkansas affiliates of the American Dental Association. Currently, Dr. Duckworth serves Arkansas as Past President of the Arkansas Dental Association and is the immediate Past Chairman for the National Academy of General Dentistry’s Examinations Council, which authors the AGD Fellowship Exam.
