Dr. Welsh is a fellowship-trained breast surgeon whose practice focuses on the comprehensive care of all types of breast disease, including benign, malignant and high-risk. She completed general surgery training at University of Iowa and breast surgery fellowship at Mayo Clinic. Her expertise includes multidisciplinary treatment of breast cancer with the latest surgical techniques, including ultrasound, sentinel lymph node biopsy, breast-conserving surgery, and nipple and skin-sparing mastectomy. She also provides counseling and screening for high-risk patients. She is an active member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and the Society of Surgical Oncology, and won the Scientific Presentation Award for her research on sentinel node biopsy in women over age 70 at the American Society of Breast Surgeons annual meeting in 2017.
