General Info
Our Beginnings Walter Funeral Home was started in 1920 by Roscoe & Jennie Walter. They were both licensed funeral directors & embalmers. Their daughter, Fara Lee, married Joe Baidinger and after serving in the US Navy he attended mortuary school and graduated from Indiana College of Mortuary Science in 1953. In May of 1957, they purchased the former Zimmerman Funeral Home in Garrett and Joe & Fara Lee lived there for the next 20 years. When Roscoe's health started to decline in 1977, the Garrett location was sold and they returned to Spencerville. In 1988, Brian & Roberta Carnahan purchased the funeral home. Brian graduated from DeKalb High School and met Roberta (Westfall) at Huntington College. They both graduated from Huntington College and Brian continued his education obtaining a degree from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. Brian & Roberta worked at funeral homes in Roanoke, Huntington and Milford, Indiana until 1988 when they purchased the Baidinger & Walter Funeral Home in Spencerville. Carnahan-Baidinger & Walter Funeral Home has been serving the Spencerville, Indiana area with compassion and respect.
