General Info
Southlake Oral Surgery has consistently provided outstanding surgical service in North Texas since 2002. Dr. Taylor is a board certified surgeon who is an expert in oral surgery and anesthesia. He has extensive experience in extraction of wisdom teeth, bone grafting, and dental implant placement. Our office is equipped with state of the art technology to make your visit as comfortable and convenient as possible. Wisdom teeth are the third and final set of molars that erupt in the back of the upper and lower adult mouth. Most people lack adequate space to fully accommodate the teeth in the mouth resulting in “impactions” that lead to several predictable problems: infection (pain & swelling), tooth decay, crowding, bite alteration, and damage to adjacent teeth. Potentially problematic wisdom teeth are screened for while they are coming in during the teenage years. Extractions at this time are associated with less complication risk and quicker recovery. Prior to the development of implants, missing teeth were only replaceable using bridges or removable dentures. Bridges require crown placement on surrounding teeth in the area. Most patients find removable dentures uncomfortable & undesirable. Implants are titanium fixtures that replace the root of the tooth. They bond to the jawbone and act as a foundation for an artificial tooth, a permanent bridge, or unstable removable dentures. Implants can mimic the look and feel of natural teeth. Not everyone is a candidate for a dental implant. Implant success is dependent on adequate bone quantity & quality as well as a strong immune system. In all cases, dental implants require excellent oral hygiene and regular professional cleanings.
