Reviews
I just had work done on a car by John's. The work was done right, the car was done when expected. The cost was well under the dealer and right within expectations for having the work done by someone. To get it done for any less would mean I have to do it myself. We've had two Volvo's , a Saab, and a Nissan Maxima serviced by John's. Results have always been what is expected.
We've been customers since we moved to Maine in 2000 and take all our business to John's Service. We still have our 2000 Toyota Sienna (237,000 miles) that's running great. We also just purchased a used 2000 Merc Sable (65,000 miles) from John because it belonged to a customer of his and he's taken care of it the whole time. We're confident that they do a good job and are fair to do business with. They always call to get OKays for work. John, Tim and everyone are knowledgeable, helpful and really nice. I totally trust and highly recommend John's Service!

I don't know about the other reviews because I have taken my cars to John's for years and have had excellent service and repairs. I have had a Saab and a Ford and both cars have been serviced well, better than the dealerships. I am a loyal customer and trust John's Service.

DO NOT use this garage. The previous posts are exactly correct. I authorized a repair and was charged over 2.5 times what the estimate was without John's informing me they were going to do extra work. I tried to deal with them reasonably to reach a settlement with no response. They are dishonest. Stay away.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS SHOP! I wish I had read the below review BEFORE I took my car to this shop! Here's how they SCREWED me: I brought my Volvo into the shop for a routine oil change. The mechanic said I needed to have the rear main seal done and showed me oil all along the undercarriage of my car. I had them do this work, but two weeks later when I checked my oil again, I found that I was down 2+ quarts! I brought the car back and they said I needed front seals! I did not have them fix the front seals, but had my normal qualified mechanic fix it. The problem all along was a plugged PCV system, but bc they did the rear main seal w/o unplugging the PCV system, I almost immediately blew out the font seals. The problem all along was the plugged PCV system and it cost me $2K in engine seal work bc they didn't diagnose the problem right in the first place, they didn't check out the system that anyone who knows about a Volvo engine should have. NEVER LET THEM WORK ON OUR CAR!
