General Info
Podiatrists specialize in medical care of the foot, ankle, and lower leg. They must have a doctor of pediatric medicine (D.P.M.) degree from a college of pediatric medicine. Podiatrists are sometimes referred to as foot doctors, foot and ankle surgeons, or pediatric surgeons. Dr. Jyotsna Thapar is a graduate of Rutgers University of New Jersey and the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. After graduating, she completed her podiatric medical training at New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, New York, and podiatric surgical training at Northport VA Medical Center in Long Island, New York. Dr. Thapar is board qualified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. She is also a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association as well as an associate member of the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons. Note from Dr. Thapar: I believe the relationship between a doctor and patient is very special. It requires trust on both sides. Confidentiality is of utmost importance and will always be strictly adhered to. The highest quality care is only possible when a physician and patient establish a relationship as individuals and then carry on frank and open discussions. The door is always open for you and your concerns, comments, or even criticism. Your opinion concerning the care you receive in our office is greatly appreciated. Medicine is a service profession. I am in medical practice to serve you.
