The Patrol Division, managed by the St. Joseph County Police Department, serves more than 111,000 people who live outside the corporate limits of South Bend and Mishawaka, Ind. It dispatches calls, generates reports and writes traffic tickets. The division also investigates traffic accidents. Located in South Bend, Ind., the Patrol Division enforces traffic rules and regulations. Its resource officers conduct safety classes for children. The St. Joseph County Police Department also manages a communications center that answers fire and emergency medical calls and maintains criminal data for several law enforcement agencies. The police department additionally operates a detective bureau, dive team and jail division.
