General Info
If you asked 10 year old Rebecca Kelln, MS, MPAS, RD, PA-C, what she wanted to be when she grew up, she wouldve proudly told you that she wanted to be an archaeologist. Eventually, she realized a different dream, and she is now a Physician Assistant with Beacon Medical Group Pediatric Specialty.I idolized my father, a gastroenterologist, and my grandfather, a surgeon, she said. Growing up, my world was filled with stories of the challenges and successes of serving others in this country and overseas, through the avenue of medicine.Kelln took the plunge to attend school at Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska, where she earned her Masters of Physician Assistant Studies. Now, she works primarily with two groups of patients: children who need help to breathe better, and children who need to sleep better. She is able to help them through the use of medications, education, treatments, and behavior modifications.I believe in empowering my patients through knowledge, understanding, and accountability, she said. I view medicine as a way to serve my community and help people live life to the fullest. I believe that my patients need to be heard, and they play a vital role in maximizing their own health. After working with a patient, she hopes that they learn to understand their disease processes and to better take care of themselves. In Her Own WordsWho is or was the most influential person/role model in your life?My father, who practiced as a missionary doctor and later in the US as a gastroenterologist, has been an amazing role model of integrity, skill and compassion. What was your first job growing up?
