  A gummy smile can be fixed by a procedure called crown lengthening. Our doctors use special lasers to gently remove the excess gum tissue to expose more of the natural tooth. As needed, he also sculpts the bone so that a sufficient amount of the tooth is exposed.
• Bridges
  Dental bridges are used to replace missing teeth, but require that the teeth supporting the bridge be shaved down. Dental implants may be a better solution.
• Dental Bonding
  Abrasion refers to wear that is caused by external forces. The most common are the type that is caused by hard brushing and the use of abrasive toothpaste. Also, depending upon cultural differences, certain diets can be highly abrasive. Typically, the type of abrasive wear that we see most is caused by toothbrush abrasion and it often results in notched out areas at the gum line. Treatment usually involves helping the patient to recognize the cause of the problem so that they can alter what they are doing and then restoring the worn away tooth structure. This treatment may only require a simple filling or two with composite bonding.

  Using rotary instruments, our root canals are fast and can be completed in one visit 99% of the time. Root canals have gotten the reputation for being painful, but any pain is completely avoided by giving our patients the right amount of anesthetic, and by numbing the gum first so that even the injection is painless.

• Deep Cleaning
  Thorough, deep cleaning is still the best line of attack on gum disease. We use ultrasonic scalers to loosen the calculus (tartar) and fine hand instruments to remove the remaining calculus and to polish the root surface.
