Dr. Steven Friedman is the Chief of Pediatric Urology at Maimonides Medical Center, Brooklyn, New York, and has been a member of Pediatric Urology Associates since 1997. Dr. Friedman graduated from American University in Washington, D. C., and received his medical degree from The State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center in 1983. He did his general surgery training at The Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City and his urology residency training at Maimonides Medical Center. He completed his fellowship training in pediatric urology at The Children’s Hospital of Michigan, Wayne State University. He has been practicing pediatric urology and reconstructive surgery in Brooklyn and Long Island since 1991. Dr. Friedman is board certified in urology. He is a member of The American Urological Association, a Fellow of The American College of Surgeons and The American Academy of Pediatrics. He is also a member of The Society of Pediatric Urology. He has authored several medical articles, concentrating in areas of scrotal and testicular disorders. He has been invited on numerous occasions to lecture throughout the New York area on pediatric urology topics and has presented papers at the annual meetings of the American Urological Association and American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Friedman has been honored by being listed in several issues of New York Magazine’s “Best Doctors in New York” in addition to Castle Connelly’s, “How to Find the Best Doctors in the Metropolitan Area”. He serves on the Board of directors of The Brooklyn School for Special Children, The Block Institute, as well as on multiple hospital committees. Dr. Friedman sees patients at the Brooklyn and Long Island offices of Pediatric Urology Associates. He performs surgery at Maimonides Medical Center and Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children’s Medical Center, Long Island Jewish Medical Center.
