Constructed in 1991, the Solon Fire Station 1 serves as the Fire and Rescue Department's headquarters. It operates an administrative office, a fire prevention bureau and public education division. This station houses a rescue squad, pumper, ladder truck and hazardous materials unit. The Fire and Rescue Department also offers fire suppression, water supply, hose lines, ventilation, and search and rescue services. It operates a communication and dispatch center that coordinates responses to various emergency and nonemergency calls. The department additionally provides information regarding child seat, weather, home and tornado safety. The Fire and Rescue Department was started in 1924 and is comprised of more than 60 members. It is located in Solon, Ohio.
