Located in Smithfield, Va., The Mental Health Center-Smithfield provides mental health, substance abuse and prevention services. It offers health information through its clients, family members, primary care physicians, and various referral sources. The center s adult mental health services include diagnosis and evaluation, crisis intervention, case management and chemotherapy. The Mental Health Center-Smithfield also provides individual, group and family counseling services. It additionally offers several prevention services, such as parenting education and support, conflict mediation training, educational presentations and community planning and collaboration. In addition, the center conducts various community-based youth programs. The Mental Health Center-Smithfield is owned and operated by the Western Tidewater Community Services Board, which maintains additional mental health centers in Suffolk and Franklin, Va.
