Smithfield High School is a nonprofit, private educational institution that serves more than 1,000 students in grades nine through 12. The school s curriculum includes college preparatory, advanced placement and honors courses. It also offers a range of elective and technical education courses, including cosmetology, culinary arts, utility and heavy construction, veterinary assistance and welding. It also offers dual-enrollment courses in various subjects, such as political science, statistics and western civilization. The school offers various clubs, such as French, Spanish, art and key. Its media center offers Internet access, curriculum-related books, magazines and journals. Smithfield High School is affiliated with the Virginia Department of Education and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
