We take special care in monitoring the care and development of your child’s baby teeth as well as preparing gums for the emergence of adult teeth. We will help predict impending dental problems and work with your family to provide solutions that are comfortable for your child and protect their self-esteem.

- VeneersIf you are unhappy with the shape or overall appearance of certain teeth in your smile, porcelain veneers may be right for you. These veneers, which are made of a long-lasting material identical to that of tooth enamel, will transform your smile but cover up any teeth that have become chipped, worn down, misaligned or discolored. Your veneers are both custom made and custom fit to be cemented to the surface of each tooth. The outcome is a well-blended smile that drastically changes the way your bite looks and feels.
- CrownsCrowns are used to improve damaged teeth by covering or “capping” the tooth. Your Dental Care Center dentist may recommend a crown if you have a weakening or cracking tooth. In addition, crowns can help improve the appearance of a tooth as well as any alignment and shape issues. Crowns are also used to attach a bridge. If you are missing one or more teeth, the space left in your smile can lead to shifting or rotating teeth, often resulting in a poor bite. By using a bridge, our dentists permanently cement a dental appliance onto adjacent teeth with the goal of literally bridging the gap created by your missing tooth or teeth. After taking impressions, our experienced dental team will go to work creating your crowns and bridge that will comfortably fit your gap and match the natural color of your teeth.

- Dental BondingUnlike veneers, which require molds to be taken and then sent to a lab, bonding can be done in a single visit. Instead of having a piece of material cover the entire surface of the tooth, in dental bonding, small pieces of tooth-colored material are bonded to the tooth to fix more minor chips and cracks. After it is attached, we will go about shaping and polishing the new addition so it fits in with the rest of your teeth perfectly!
- Restorative DentistryDr. Higgins is a graduate of Louisburg College, North Carolina State University, and received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has completed many courses in cosmetic and complex restorative dentistry.
- Root Canal TreatmentIf you have a tooth or several teeth that have become inflamed, inflected, or are dying, your dentist may recommend a root canal. After undergoing X-rays and a consultation, you will undergo treatments to the center of your tooth as well as the roots and surrounding gums. After removing the dead or infected matter, your dentist will thoroughly clean and fill the area all while you are numbed and having the most comfortable experience possible.
- Deep CleaningDepending on the overall health of your teeth and the severity of your gum disease, the DCC will create a treatment plan specific to your needs. More basic forms of therapy involve deep cleaning both above and below your gum line to remove and treat areas deeply impacted by bacteria buildup. A more intense cleaning, scaling and planing, may also be conducted under a light anesthetic to better rehabilitate gum surfaces and prevent further plaque from sticking. Other forms of therapy for more severe cases of gum disease may be surgeries involving the removing and replacing of gums or a guided tissue regeneration, which will prompt your bone and tissue to grow back to a healthy level. Grafts are also available for both bone and gum that may have been deteriorated by your gum disease. No matter the stage of your condition, the Dental Care Center can guide you to a cost-effective treatment option that will restore and protect your gum health.

- Oral SurgeryIf you have an infected or decaying tooth or need to have a tooth removed to better improve teeth alignment, your Dental Care Center dentist will guide you through the process of having your tooth pulled in a way that is as convenient to your lifestyle and schedule as possible. In less severe cases, we can perform extractions right in our office with the use of numbing medicines and improved technologies. However, in more complex situations, we will schedule a day for surgery to put you under an anesthetic and remove the tooth. Even in these types of surgeries, you’ll typically be headed home within an hour or two for a quick recovery.
