I was with a group of about 12 people who had made a luncheon reservation in advance. It was on a Thursday. We arrived at about 11:45 and were put in a big empty room in the basement. We had one waitstaff who was working both upstairs and down. It took about 1/2 hour to get our food. Only 6 people ordered dessert, and it was brought down in two separate trips (about 15 minutes apart). We had requested separates checks, but only one was brought. We insisted on separate checks. By this time it was almost 1:30. The checks came with a 20% gratuity tacked on. Because of the poor quality of service I asked the manager why we should have to pay the gratuity they chose. He said it is standard practice. I asked him if I had to pay 20% even though the service was lousy. And believe it or not he said "yes". So if you go to Tre, don't expect good service and be willing to pay 20% for uncaring service and simply adequate food.
