  Dr. Emily Murphy received her medical degree from the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine and completed a residency in General Surgery at Christiana Care Health System in Newark, Delaware. She went on to complete a Fellowship in Endocrine Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Dr. Murphy is Board Certified in General Surgery.

  Dr. Person has a special interest in all areas of minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery including robotic assisted techniques. His interests include general surgery, complex hernia repair, trauma/critical care and surgeries/biopsies of the pancreas, stomach, esophagus, colon, gallbladder, liver, thyroid, parathyroid, and skin. In addition, Dr. Person has special interest in the surgical treatment of the pancreas.
• Bariatric Surgery
  Dr. Strand is an active member of the South Dakota State Medical Association (SDSMA), the American Medical Association (AMA), the American College of Surgeons (ACS), the American Society of General Surgeons (ASGS), the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons (SLS), the Seventh District Medical Society, and Alpha Omega Alpha. Dr. Strand is also a member of the Avera Health Plans Regional Care Council. He has served as the South Dakota Chairman of the Committee on Trauma for the American College of Surgeons and on the Regional Emergency Medical Services Authority Board. In addition, he has served in many roles at Avera McKennan Hospital including Chief of Staff, Vice Chief of Staff, and Chairman of the Department of Surgery.
