The Diocese of Sioux City was established by a decree of His Holiness, Pope Leo XIII in 1902. It includes several parishes in Akron, Algona, Clare, Lidderdale, Fort Dodge, Sanborn, Lake City, Mapleton and Larchwood, Iowa. The organization offers educational services and operates various catholic schools. The Diocese of Sioux City operates Emmetsburg Catholic School, Remsen St. Mary's Schools, Bishop Garrigan Schools, Kuemper Catholic School and Sacred Heart.
