For two decades EKIM's karate has offered programs for all ages, from karate to aerobic kickboxing, and wieght training. In recent years EKIM's has been involved with many Quad Cities Fighting Championships, which are growing strong in the world of MMA.Promotions are always held at EKIM's in Silvis.Master Mike Smith began his training in the art of karate with Master Tarpein in September of 1982. As a student of Master Tarpein Mike won several state and national karate tournaments before turning his sights on kickboxing. In 1986 Mike won the light heavyweight PKA title in Wisconsin.Class Etiquette...1. All karate and jujitsu students must wear a gi (uniform).2. Bow when entering and leaving the mat.3. If a black belt is on the mat, do not enter without permission.4. Come to attention when a black belt enters the mat.Black Belt Club...See the students with the nifty red white and black gis? They are members of the Black Belt Club. Members of this club have made a commitment to develop their skills in the art of karate to the black belt level. To honor this commitment they are permitted to wear these special uniforms. Part of the Black Belt Club is the patch program which gives members opportunities to earn patches to affix to their club uniforms.If you are interested in making the Black Belt Club commitment, talk to Master Smith or Sensei Hull.
