East Marion Elementary School is a full-service Title I school offering a variety of educational activities that meets the requirements of State Statute 232.245. It serves the educational needs of students in prekindergarten through grade five. The school has an enrollment of more than 700 students and is a part of the Marion County School District. Its curriculum is based on the Sunshine State Standards and includes subjects, such as math, English, social studies, science, computers, health and physical education, arts and crafts and music. It also offers a variety of extracurricular activities, such as Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, daisies, brownies, little league and soccer league. Its media center has a wide collection of books, magazines, CDs, maps and dictionaries. The school s parent-teacher organization takes part in various functions and activities, such as spaghetti dinner, homeroom parents, faculty and staff appreciation weeks, field days and fifth-grade dance party.
