Do not trust these guys.



We had a clogged sewer line. Roto Rooter cleared it for 600 bucks. Two weeks later, the line clogged again. They tried to charge me for a second visit, but finally came and cleared it at no charge after I protested. They then sent a guy in to drop a camera down the pipe to see what the problem was. He told me that we had a rotted section of pipe that needed replacing and offered to do it for $6,000.



I got a second opinion from a professional plumber recommended by my in-laws. He found no rotted pipe and also found that all Roto Rooter did was shove the blockage further down the pipe each time they were here without actually clearing it. I paid the guy to clear the line properly this time and we haven't had any problems since.



When I asked the second plumber - a guy who would've benefitted from doing the work - whether I had any rotted pipe in the line, he said absolutely not. Apparently Roto Rooter techs work on commission so it's in their interest to upsell unnecessary and expensive jobs to people who don't know the difference.



In other words I was flat-out lied to by RotoRooter and would've been out six thousand dollars were it not for an honest plumber.
