Sorry to say, I also had a bad experience at Layhill. Moved here recently and took my 2 cats on the recommendation of a friend. After a couple of routine visits (where vet was impatient that my elderly cat squirmed during procedures), we had an actual emergency for the younger cat; she was running a temp and he said liver enzmes were not normal. He recommended I take her to local emergency clinic immediately. However, I had to call 3 times to get his office to send her test results to the emergency room. Cat survived an unexpected crises while at the ER but as a result, was disabled. Layhill vet was very slow to arrange followup with an appropriate specialist, told me that cat was "probably disabled for life" and I should "accept that". Treated me like I was unreasonable in asking him to influence the specialist to see her. BTW, she has now recovered fully under the care of her new vet. And it turns out that my elderly cat had been misdiagnosed by him as well. Not going back.

Dr. Adelman is & knowledgeable. We took our 2 dogs to him for years, and felt safe about boarding them there as well. One of our dogs had pancreatitis & Dr. Adelman saved his life. I would recommend this animal hospital.

My coworker dropped off her dog to be fixed and was quoted one price. Later they call and tell her they are adding all these charges and that the price she was quoted wasn't correct it would be another 100 dollars plus these added charges. When she asked to speak to the vet she got the run around about how it was his day off and he would call her tomorrow but then they would need to board the dog and that would be even MORE money. Finally she get the vet to call her back, he proceeds to be curt and then downright belligerent. He told her if she said one bad thing about his place of business to other customers he would call the police. He told her to come get her dog and never set foot in his office again. She took her pet to her regular vet to have the stitches removed only to find out that they botch the surgery. Her dog now has an infection and has to be on medication. The vet was so appalled that she brought in another vet to consult. Go at your own risk.

This practice only uses VCA in Gaithersburg for any needed specialist care. As I've experienced using VCA over a number of years for my now deceased cat, I would never go there again. Way too expensive and the caring and compassion stops once you've paid your bill and left the place. Needless to say, I'm no longer a client of Layhill.
