- BeesHoney bees are social insects that are a very important part of the eco-system throughout the world; they are responsible for pollinating over 100 crops in the U.S. alone. Honey bees make honey from the nectar of flowers and use it as their food source. A honey bee colony can survive for many years unlike other types of stinging insect colonies and because of this their colonies can grow very large. Honey bees create their nests in crevices and are often found in logs, trees, wall voids and in chimneys.
- WaspsPaper wasps are a type of wasp that feeds on the nectar and pollen of plants. They create their nests out of plant materials and saliva; and as their name suggests once built it looks like it is made out of paper. A paper wasp nest consists of multiple compartments that are not covered. The compartments are where they lay eggs and also where they raise their young. Their umbrella shaped nests are often found hanging under protective overhangs around doors and under roof eaves.
- TicksTake back your outdoor space with our effective mosquito and tick control solutions. Enjoy peace of mind and outdoor activities without the nuisance and health risks posed by these pests.
- EarwigsEarwigs are generally an outdoor insect that live in moist dark areas like under mulch, logs and rocks. Earwigs are probably most known for the myth that is associated with them; the myth states that these insects crawl into human ears and burrow into the victim’s brain to lay their eggs. Luckily for us this is completely false.
- MosquitoesBy employing several diverse control measures together, our pest control professionals can reduce biting mosquito populations by 90% all season long! We also specialize in one-time mosquito treatments. - FliesSanitation is a big issue for commercial facilities and unfortunately, the build-up of grease, fats and other organic material in drains creates ideal breeding grounds for insects and leads to infestations of flies and other pests common in commercial facilities. The good news is that Big Blue Bug Solutions provides professional drain cleaning services that are sure to help your company combat flies, odors and sanitation issues within your facility.
- CentipedesCentipedes are very flat creatures and can be between 1/8 of an inch to over 6 inches long, depending on which exact species you are dealing with. They are generally yellowish to brown in color.
- MillipedesMillipedes are small arthropods, not insects. They have two legs per body segment. While their name means “thousand legs†, they do not have that many. They typically have between 80 and 400 legs.
- BeetlesPowderpost beetles are a wood-boring insect. Adult powderpost beetles will lay their eggs on or just below the surface of unfinished food. After the eggs hatch they will damage the wood slowly overtime as the larvae chew narrow tunnels through the wood feeding on it and reducing it to a fine flour-like powder. When they have fully matured, the adults will then chew a hole at the surface of the wood that is about the diameter of a pinhead to exit it.
- HornetsIn the New England region baldfaced hornets are a prevalent pest problem during the warmer months and are also referred to as white faced hornets. Regardless of what you call them, what's more interesting is that this stinging insect isn't actually a hornet but rather a type of wasp. They build paper nests up in trees and will very aggressively defend their nests against anyone or thing that they perceive as a threat.
- YellowjacketsBaldfaced hornets are larger than yellow jackets, the workers average about ¾ of an inch in length with the queens being a bit larger. Baldfaced hornets have a distinctive color pattern; they are black in color with a white head and 3 white strips on the back of their body.
- MothsAdult moths are 1/4 to 3/8 inches in length and are generally bi-colored, with half of the wings being a very light brown to cream color and the other half being dark, almost bronze colored. The larvae are about 1/2 inch long and are white with a brown head; however, they can be tinted pink or green, depending on what they have just eaten.
- Pantry PestsMost pantry pest infestations occur when already infested materials are brought home from the grocery store. They find their way into cereals, pasta, dried fruit, and other common products in search of food.
- Stinging InsectsIf you already have a cicada killer problem on your property it is best to call a professional pest exterminator to help you eliminate them and keep them away. Cicada killers usually have to be dealt with using pesticides which can be very dangerous if used improperly. Contact Big Blue Bug Solutions to find out how we can help you get rid of stinging insects on your property.

- BatsBats are a common wildlife problem that occurs throughout homes in Rhode Island and New England; they carry disease including rabies and therefore should be dealt with by bat control professionals. They look to homes to find a safe place roost in during the day, and then leave during the night to forage for food.
- MolesMoles are small insectivores that live almost exclusively underneath the ground. They live their life traveling through intricate tunnel systems that they create just under the ground’s surface and much deeper in the ground. In the more shallow tunnels they look for and feed on worms, insects, and plant roots and bulbs. Moles prefer to live a solitary life in their own tunnel system except during breeding season.
