When M.J. Chapin established an abstract service in 1872, he began what is now one of the oldest continuously operated businesses in Grayson County. M.J. Chapin laid the foundation of the firm that is now known as Chapin Title Company. The Company began its operation in a small room in the Grayson County Courthouse in 1872. Through the years, the business has changed location several times, with its main office now located at 620 North Travis Street in Sherman.
