I attended the Kapowsin Skydiving class on Accelerated Free Fall a couple of days ago. The weather was very bad all day during the class. We did not believe we were going to be able to jump after the class. However, the weather changed within 30 minutes of that late afternoon time and several planeloads did jump, including me. I started jumping when I was 16 years old in Fairbanks, Alaska, in October, in deep snow, in 1957. I obtained 66 jumps in the following ten years, most of which were out of control free falls, one club death, power line collisions and every other concievable ridiculas jump. None of us new jumpers to the club knew how to free fall stable. The older (18 thru 25 years old) who did know how did not know how to teach the rest of us. We were all remaining flat, not arched. In one day of class with Rosie, at the Kapowsin Skydiving Club, I learned HOW TO MAKE A STABLE FREE FALL and why all of those bad things happened to us some 55 years ago.
Do not choose Kapowsin if you are Jumping with out of town guests. I was scheduled to jump with my girlfriend and a couple of out of town guests, but the weather prevented us from jumping. Kapowsin refuses to refund us the deposits stating that the money will be good if we want to jump again. We all want to jump again, however, we do not know when our out of town guests will be back in town. The bottom line is Kapowsin cancelled the jump do to weather and there is no telling when everyone will be able to go again, yet after much pleading they still refuse to refund the deposit. I cannot say anything about their ability to provide a safe and fun jump because I never actually got to jump. But they could use a course in business ethics.
