The Shelton Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency that preserves peace, protects residents lives and their property, arrests law violators, and prevents and deters crime. It has a records division that manages and processes department reports, requests, permits, and registration and record documents. The Shelton Police Department also operates the Special Response Team (SRT), which deals with high-risk and dangerous situations, including barricaded persons, high-risk warrant arrests, explosive devices and heavily armed criminals. In addition, the department operates animal control, dive, traffic, crime prevention and patrol units. Located in Shelton, Conn., the Shelton Police Department maintains a school resource officer unit that supports a variety of community outreach and youth programs.
