The common phrase it takes a village refers to the difficulty of a task. Here at Aspetuck Village Condominiums, it truly does take a village to get even the simplest of matters addressed. Would you like to get your garage door trim repaired? Let me tell you the sequence of events you would have to go through in order to address such a minor issue:1. Submit a work order.2. Attempt to call and write to Association leadership for months on end, only to be told a different excuse every time for why they cant address the matter.3. Schedule a Board Meeting, where you will be yelled at with a finger pointed in your face (literally) for citing Rules & Regulations that relate to your rights as an Aspetuck citizen. Be prepared to be told rules that are not in the handbook and that will be made up in the spur of the moment! Did I mention Board Members will abruptly walk out when you are making your point?4. After 315 days, your issue will be addressed by a contractor who succeeds with causing more damage to your condo than originally existed.5. Go through this process again to address the new set of damages caused. In addition to the above sequence of events, Board members like to brag about their status as volunteers. They enjoy showing favoritism to those who have mastered the art of butt-kissing. What they fail to realize is that they signed up for a position that entails getting the job done for the many citizens who pay their common charges on time each month.I would like to personally thank Association leadership for allowing me to bulk up on my mediation abilities, which will come in handy when I attend law school and become a lawyer! I look forward to this sustained learning experience and will continue my persistence in addressing all of the Associations responsibilities.
