Owl’s Eye Vineyard and Winery is located near Charlotte, just outside of historic downtown Shelby, and overlooks North Carolina’s South Mountains. We offer tours, tastings and one of the most beautiful views in Cleveland County. Owl’s Eye is also a memorable venue for weddings, receptions and other special events. Established by Frank and Barbara Hannah, Owl’s Eye opened to the public in 2007. There are approximately ten acres planted, primarily in hybrid grapes, and both varietals and blended wines are produced and bottled on site. Whether you are a wine connoisseur or just beginning to explore wines, we are dedicated to giving you an enjoyable and memorable experience. Our name and logo tell a story. Owls are night feeders and as such, have very sharp and focused vision. Frank is a graduate of Duke Medical School where he specialized in Ophthalmology. The logo, “Iris the Owl,” was designed by his son-in-law; the monocle was added to emphasize the eye. Several of our wines have names which incorporate the eye or owl and their label colors change to fit the wine’s name: -TwEYElight (a young, light red) -Pink Eye (a rose) -Night Owl (our robust red blend)
