The community Center in Shelburne Falls is very dear to my heart because it was founded by my father and then postmaster, Harper T. Gerry Sr. He saved the old church from being razed because he had a vision to turn the building into a community center for the town, which was the dream of Lille Sawyer, benefactor of the Center. He obtained non-profit status and established a Board of Directors to oversee the operations and carry out the mission of its incorporation. My Father and Mother, Paulyne Gerry, put their collective hearts and souls into serving the people of the surrounding communities in a multitude of venues at the Center. Their legacy continues under the watchful eyes of the Board of Directors and service of Marion Scott. It is a wonderful place for private and public events.
