Great doctors like to work with other great doctors, and Dr. Johnson believes this is certainly the culture reflected at St. Francis. In his leadership role, he works with strategic initiatives, the quality and safety department, and the hospital's medical staff. In addition, he serves as the Allina Utilization Management Medical Director. Dr. Johnson also provides patient care at St. Francis Jordan Clinic. He earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota and completed his family medicine residency at Methodist Hospital. With more than 23 years of medical experience, he is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians and American College of Physician Advisors. Monte enjoys wake surfing, fishing and skiing. He and his family live in the southwest metropolitan area.

- UltrasoundEchocardiograms are heart ultrasounds that are useful to evaluate the structure and function of the heart and associated vessels. Heart ultrasounds provide moving pictures of your heart that allow your doctor to evaluate your heart's health. This ultrasound uses the same technology that allows doctors to see an unborn baby inside a pregnant mother.
- MRIA magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan is a radiology test that uses magnetism, radio waves and a computer to produce images of internal body structures. The image produced by MRI is quite detailed and can detect tiny changes in structures within the body. We provide music for you to listen to during your test to help with relaxation.
- RadiologyTherapeutic injections, offered as part of St. Francis' interventional radiology program, are performed by specialized medical doctors, called radiologists, from Consulting Radiologists, Ltd.
- X-Rays
- Nuclear MedicineNuclear medicine uses small amounts of a special radiotracer material detected by special cameras that work with computers to provide precise pictures. The amount of radiation from a nuclear medicine procedure is comparable to that received during a diagnostic x-ray. Nuclear medicine can help detect tumors, irregular or inadequate blood flow to various tissues, blood cell disorders, and inadequate functioning of organs.
- MammographySt. Francis offers both 2-D and 3-D digital mammography. While 2-D digital mammography is still the standard of care for breast cancer screening, 3-D mammography, or breast tomosynthesis, is a new option for a screening. 3-D mammography is beneficial in all women, but may be most helpful in women with dense breast tissue, women at high risk for breast cancer or women with a personal history of breast cancer. A few insurance companies are not yet reimbursing for the total amount of a 3-D mammogram screenings, so please check with your insurance company.
- Computed TomographyA CT scan is a test that takes pictures of structures within the body created by a computer that compiles x-ray images and turns them into pictures on a screen. The CT can reveal some soft-tissue and other structures that cannot be seen in conventional x-rays. St. Francis' Dual Source Definition Scanner is one of the fastest, most sophisticated CT scanners available, revolutionizing heart care.
- ChemotherapyThe Cancer Center care team provides up-to-date information for St. Francis patients and their families in free, one-hour classes. During this class, you will learn about chemotherapy treatment, what to expect, side effects and other important topics. Family members and loved ones are encouraged to attend as well to better understand what their loved one is experiencing and how they can best provide support.
- Radiation TherapyRadiation therapy is a form of cancer treatment that uses strong beams of energy to kill cancer cells or keep them from growing and dividing. Sophisticated equipment and techniques treat even the rarest types of cancer, relieve adverse symptoms and improve quality of life. The technology used for radiation treatment delivers higher doses of radiation to a smaller treatment target. The result is more precise treatment delivery and minimal side effects. - Interventional RadiologyInterventional Radiology uses minimally-invasive procedures to diagnose and treat various disorders and pain by using images of the patient (x-Ray and ultrasound) to guide radiologists in delivering treatments via a small puncture in the skin.
- General SurgeryKanitta Rentfrow began her role as director of operations in 2020, after previously serving as director of surgical services and materials management at St. Francis. Rentfrow oversees surgical services, pharmacy, respiratory therapy, sleep center, cardiac rehabilitation, diagnostic imaging and environmental services, and advises on materials management, nutrition services and the hospital's laboratory. Prior to joining St. Francis, Rentfrow worked at various healthcare organizations in the Twin Cities and Chicago area, and she has more than 20 years of leadership experience. She has a bachelor’s degree in industrial and organizational psychology from Southern Illinois University, a bachelor’s degree in nursing from St. Catherine University, and an MBA with a healthcare focus from the University of St. Thomas. She is a certified in executive nursing practice and public health. She is active in her community as a community board member of the River Valley YMCA, a volunteer coordinator for Fare for All (a program of the food group), a member of The Academies of Shakopee Steering Committee and a volunteer member of the Saints Foundation. Rentfrow lives in Burnsville with her husband, daughter, two dogs and four chickens. She and her family enjoy cooking and attending local theatre. Rentfrow loves the community feeling of St. Francis and feeling like we are a family taking care of each other.
