My son has been going to Laurel Pediatrics for 4 years. I LOVE the doctors there....but, the nurses are horrible. They have horrible attitudes, and some are just plain incompetent. What happened today was simply the last straw.My son turned 4 last week. On June 4th, I called and spoke with a nurse, and scheduled an appointment for his 4 yr. old Well Visit. I scheduled the appointment for today at 9:30 am. When I got there, two alarming things happened.FIRST: The nurse/receptionist asked me for his birth date. The nurse then asked me for his last name, and I gave it to her. She looked, and looked and couldn't find him in the system. She asked me for my last name, and she still couldn't locate him in the computer. (Apparently, when I gave them notice of my name change, they didn't note that in the system.) So, finally she finds him in the system.....and tells me it was because I didn't tell her that he was a "Jr." SHE DIDN'T ASK!SECOND: The nurse pulls out a file, for a little boy with the same last name and same birth date as my son. She turns to me and says "James." I tell her no, my sons name is "Brandon." The nurse then goes on to tell me that THERE IS NO APPOINTMENT FOR BRANDON! But, there is a 9:30 appt. for James. (Now, when I got home from work last night, I did notice that they didn't call to confirm the appointment.) I tell her that I have the appt. listed in my date book, ALONG WITH HER NAME, BECAUSE I SPOKE TO HER WHEN I MADE THE APPT! She tells me that I must be mistaken, she never made an appointment for me. At first, I think it was made for a different date, and I messed that up. She looks. No, there are no future appointments for Brandon. And, there are no missed appts. I then tell her that I scheduled this appointment so he could have his 4 year old physical and the dr. was also going to take Brandon's papers so he can start in school in September. The nurse then tells me that someone will fill out the papers for me....it will only cost me $10.00! I tell her that Laurel Pediatrics should fill out the papers and send me a check for $30.00! I missed out on two hours of work. She instantly gets annoyed and tells me that she never spoke with me and never made an appointment for Brandon. (I know it was her, because I had her very unusual name next to the appt. I wrote down her name, just in case this type situation happened!)Isn't funny? When you miss an appt., they charge the parent $25.00? But, when they mess up your appt, you can't charge them!I can almost guarantee that she messed up all together and scheduled an appt. for James instead of Brandon. He had the same last name, and the same exact birth date. The appt. was for the same time.Won't poor James' parents be upset when they get the $25.00 bill for a missed appt. that they never made? I hope they fight it.
