General Info
We are a family-owned machine shop with over 75 years of experience in our trade. At Felts Machine our mission is to provide our customers with quality and customer service surpassing that of our competition. When you come to Felts Machine you will find our staff to be professional, knowledgable, courteous, and friendly. Felts Machine was founded by Jay Felts in 1987 after a 20 year career as a machinist at Franklin Equipment Company in Franklin, Virginia. The first shop, located in Sedley, Virginia was a 1600 square foot building built behind his home. In 1989, Felts Machine Racing was started as a one car dirt track team, and in 1992 became a three car team. In 1995, Felts Machine Racing won the Mini Stock Championship with the 15 car. In 1994, Felts Machine built and supplied Throwing Chairs for Disabled Track and Field Games. On the throwing chair made for Travis, co-owner, there is a hitch so that he could pull his throwing chair behind his wheelchair. In 1996, Felts Machine built the first prototype Strip Tillage, a farm implement designed to effieciently reduce fuel costs and tractor wear by performing multiple tasks at once. In 1997, Felts Machine Racing built and raced a 4x4 Sand Drag Truck. In 2005 we purchased Beamon and Johnson's machine shop in Suffolk, VA to open a Suffolk division, and just two short years later, the Suffolk facility expanded to 7000 sq. ft. to what it is today.
