The AC output on my Westerbeke genset failed and I called a mechanic to check it out from a reputable dealer in Ballard, I was advised the powerhead was toast and would need to be rebuilt - $5,000, or the genset replaced $10,000. The powerhead had been rebuilt before and had less than 200 hrs on it, so I got a second opinion from Stewart's Marine - Larry Stewart came out himself (age 73) gave it a look and agreed it seemed odd that it failed, it was in good condition but assured me he could repair it far cheaper, but he first wanted his mechanic Brice to give it a look. Brice came out that afternoon and found a broken $0.05 spade connector and fixed it on the spot. I can't describe how pleased I was by this outcome. I am scheduling some other maintence work for them next week.
