• Dental Examination
  During your initial visit, our doctor will perform a comprehensive exam of both your hard and soft tissue with digital X-rays, a periodontal evaluation, and a head/neck examination. We reserve 2 hours for our new patients to ensure that all exam and consultation topics can be discussed and your questions answered by your doctor. We also set aside enough time to take care of your personalized cleaning and will always strive to take care of as much as we can to maximize your busy schedule.
• X-rays
  The Schick CMOS APS sensors require the lowest amount of radiation to acquire dental x-rays on the market. Digital x-rays have been proven to require up to 80% less radiation than standard x-ray films. Schick strictly follows the “ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) Principle” meaning all Schick products are created to ensure the lowest amount of radiation is needed to produce diagnostic images. This ensures that dentists who use Schick sensors in their practice are providing their patients with the healthiest x-ray experience possible.

Preventive

• Teeth Cleaning
  Dental veneers can last indefinitely, depending on how well they are taken care of by the patient. Because porcelain veneers are stronger than simple bonding, they are also more resistant to stains and chipping. Even so, you must maintain regular oral hygiene at home, and visit us for routine cleanings and exams. This is to ensure that your new cosmetic veneers will continue to look as good as new. Another important point is that oral habits that damage natural teeth such as nail biting, opening bobby pins, and chewing on hard objects can also damage your new dental veneers. Once porcelain veneers are applied, just treat them like natural teeth. They look great and are extremely durable.
• Fluoride Treatment
  Tooth decay, or cavities, used to be a certainty. But the arrival of fluoridated drinking water and toothpaste has changed that. Fluoride is a natural mineral that safely strengthens tooth enamel (the hard outer “shell” of your tooth) and helps stop cavities from forming. All children, and adults, can really benefit from fluoride. If your child isn’t getting enough fluoride from the drinking water, or they continue to get cavities, your dentist may suggest a fluoride treatment.

• Resin Composite
  Tooth-colored fillings are an alternative to traditional metal fillings and fall into two categories; direct and indirect. A direct restoration is a composite resin applied in one appointment. Indirect restorations (inlays or onlays) are made of porcelain or composite resin materials fabricated by a dental laboratory. These restorations usually take two appointments.

  Feeling the need or desire to change the appearance of one or more teeth? Veneers can be done discreetly yet allow a person to dynamically change the way they are perceived with their new smile. They are placed on the front surface of the teeth to improve the shape, color, close spaces, repair decay and or to correct wear and trauma.   Details: This case was accomplished with doing six (6) front crowns. The patient came to me about ten years prior with significant wear on their teeth and was not ready to dive into restorative dental work to regain the function and aesthetics. I remember the day when the patient came in roughly ten years later stating they was finally ready to move forward.
• Bridges
  When the dental bridge or crown is fabricated, your dentist and assistant removes your temporary restoration, and tries on the dental bridge or crown to verify fit and your approval. Once the restoration is adjusted and approved, the dentist uses a luting cement or an adhesive bonding agent to permanently secure the final restoration.

Endodontics

• Root Canal Treatment
  A dental crown has many advantages. Dental crowns address esthetic needs, restore tooth function, and enhance the overall health of your mouth. In cases where teeth have large broken down fillings, a dental crown can protect and preserve the remaining natural tooth. To enhance your smile, metal-free, tooth colored, porcelain crowns can also replace older metal or metal with porcelain crowns. Porcelain crowns have translucent qualities that, with the help of an expert cosmetic dentist like Dr. Ty, can allow your new crowns to look just like natural teeth. Following root canal therapy, a dental crown is typically placed over the remaining tooth structure to preserve esthetics and tooth function.

Seeking further expertise in dentistry, he continued a 3-year specialty residency in periodontics and implant dentistry at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, earning a Certificate in periodontics and a Master of Dental Science degree. Presently Dr. Oh is a diplomate of American Board of Periodontology.   Patients who successfully pass a screening and evaluation can be considered as candidates for implant dentistry. The primary limiting factor inherent in implant dentistry is the amount of bone available to receive and support the dental implant. If it is determined that a patient does not have enough bone to support a dental implant restoration, bone grafting procedures may be considered. Heavy smoking and some medical conditions may preclude the use of implant dentistry.

  Details: This patient came to me for a second opinion after already starting orthodontics and dental care with another team. The orthodontist wanted more guidance on how to help this patient get their desired results due to the complexity of care needed. After meeting the patient, myself, and the orthodontist we established a plan to help the patient achieve their goals. Working together closely, we made the process as easy as possible for the patient.

  Details: Severe crowding corrected by Invisalign in conjunction with contouring desired teeth properly, allowing teeth and arches to align.
• Braces
  Based on your individual treatment plan, a series of custom-made, clear aligners are then created specifically for you. These aligners are made of a smooth, comfortable BPA-free plastic that won’t irritate your cheeks and gums like traditional metal braces often do. Following graduation, he worked with two of the leading cosmetic dentists – Dr. Michael Koczarski (former co-director of the Pacific Aesthetic Continuum), followed by the mentorship of Dr. Doug Rossi (clinical instructor of the Las Vegas Institute of Cosmetic Dentistry). Currently Dr. Ty is a visiting faculty member at Spear Education.
