If you want to find a daycare that is a warm loving community - like a 2nd home - then the Cooperative Childcare Center is a place to check out. This is a parent-owned cooperative that was started in the 1970s. It run coopertively by parents, dedicated full-time teachers and a great director. It has 40-50 families at any one time divided into 4 classes (1-2yr, 2-3yr, 3-4yr, 4-5yr). The "Coop" really lives up to the motto "It takes a village to raise a child". This is a place for families who want to be part of a kid-center and parent-involved community. My 2 kids both went to the Coop for 5 years each, and they loved it. Like most kids at the Coop, they didn't want to leave at the end of the day and the teachers and other kids were like extended family.
