I will find what works for you so that therapy will be an organic process guided by your readiness for change. Together, we will determine your treatment goals, which can develop and evolve over the course of therapy. Therapy will create opportunities for growth through the resolution of painful experiences and by nurturing your interests and passions so that you may live the life you deserve. Be well." Sonya earned her Master of Arts Degree in Clinical Professional Psychology from Roosevelt University in Chicago. Previously, Sonya received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Art History from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Sonya uses her extensive background in visual arts in a therapeutic capacity as part of experiential therapy to help clients access their emotions in a non-traditional manner. Sonya feels that people learn and heal in their own way and it is the task of the therapist to help make the process accessible by identifying each client's specific needs and strengths. Sonya believes in the need to work collaboratively with each individual to help them succeed and grow. Sonya has experience teaching and treating diverse populations including children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples. She utilizes a holistic approach to treat the whole person and employs insight-based therapy, evidence-based practices, and a variety of other therapeutic modalities to provide tailored, client-centered treatment for each person. Sonya is also fluent in Russian.
