  Daniel Mentzer is of counsel to Pappalardo & Pappalardo, LLP. He is an accomplished trial attorney with nearly three decades of experience. Since being admitted to practice in New York in 1991, Mr. Mentzer first worked in the Bronx at the Legal Aid Society, Criminal Defense Division as a public defender for five years. Thereafter, he worked as a prosecutor with the the New York State Attorney General’s Office in New York County prosecuting doctors and health care professionals in the Medicaid Fraud Division.

  Jill K. Sanders is a senior associate with Pappalardo & Pappalardo, LLP. In addition to court appearances and trials, Ms. Sanders is skilled at legal research and preparation of motions and legal memoranda. During her tenure, Ms. Sanders has worked on many of the firm’s cases – from traffic tickets to homicides. She has been successful in gaining the release of clients through Article 78 and habeas corpus petitions, going so far as to argue the issues before the New York State Court of Appeals. Today, Ms. Sanders continues to represent those charged with and convicted of sex offenses. She represents persons on the New York registry and litigates relates post-conviction collateral issues.

  Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Sheindlin was a senior staff attorney at the Legal Aid Society’s Criminal Defense Division in Bronx County, handling all phases of criminal litigation for indigent and low-income individuals accused of felonies and misdemeanors from arraignment through plea bargain or trial. During her 15 year tenure at Legal Aid, Ms. Sheindlin conducted jury and bench trials in cases involving charges of robbery, rape, attempted murder, assault, burglary, and sale and possession of controlled substances.

  Mr. Pappalardo was appointed as an Assistant District Attorney by Carl A. Vergari, District Attorney of Westchester County. He was assigned to the Felony Trial Bureau where, during his tenure, he prosecuted numerous cases. After leaving the DA’s Office, Mr. Pappalardo established his private practice of law. This practice concentrated in criminal defense including major felonies. Mr. Pappalardo tried his first murder case in 1973 which resulted in an acquittal. Subsequently, he went on to try numerous misdemeanor and felony cases. This concentration on criminal defense work remains a part of the firm to this day. Mr. Pappalardo also focuses his practice on residential real estate transactions as well as wills and estate planning.
